Learn To Fly With Old Sarum Flying School

We hope that through browsing this website you will get a flavour of what we offer and a sense of the history and charisma that characterises Old Sarum; from the historic hangars set against the backdrop of Salisbury Plain, to the people that visit and fly from here.

The Flying School itself continues a well established tradition of flying training from Old Sarum which has existed since the Airfield’s creation in the First World War. English Heritage describes Old Sarum as the best preserved flying field of the period. Whilst civilian flight training has only been carried out since the 1980s, Old Sarum has a good track record of producing very competent private pilots, and this is a tradition we are proud to continue. Whether your intention is to learn to fly simply for fun, or to fulfill a lifelong ambition (whatever your age!), we think you’ll struggle to find a better combination of location and atmosphere, together with a flying school which prides itself on safe, high quality tuition.

Flying lessons – at present we are able to offer Flight Training for the following courses:

PPL (Private Pilots Licence), NPPL (National Private Pilots Licence, IMC Rating, Tail Wheel Conversions, Glass Cockpit Conversions, AOPA Basic and Standard Aerobatics courses.

Trial flying lessons – we also offer both standard and aerobatic trial flying lessons for either 20 minute, 30 minute or full hour periods.

Aircraft hire – It is also possible to solo hire our aircraft for touring, hour building, etc.
